Screenplay Synopses

Land of the Id

No synopsis available. (Script based on this author's 1987 unpublished science fiction manuscript of the same title.)

I soldier

An action adventure script with a science fiction twist. The story takes place in the present and is centered on an artificially created human being and his struggle to escape his creators and their ambitions to control him and use him as a prototype for a “command unit,” which would accompany artificially created humanoids into battle in the event of war.

Physically and mentally superior to man, this artificially created human being possesses superior ambition and thus cannot accept being subservient to others. He wants to run upon this world, not walk to a dictated beat.

Armed with a philosophy and belief that every living creature has both the right to life and the right to take life, his escape—and the chase that follows—is filled with both questionable and applaudable acts of violence. Accompanied by the scientist that created him and his humanoid counterpart, this artificially created man rides through moments of intense drama and pulse pounding action in this totally original escape & chase story that has a Blade Runner feel to it in some respects, minus the futuristic setting. Genre: A 1980's type big sci-fi action film

Things That Never Were

No synopsis available — a Sindbad, Ali Baba, Alaeddin story with Jinn.

Hidden Worlds

No synopsis available—an "alien" "space travel" story.

Baylock

An archaeologist, working at Stonehenge in England, finds that a doorway from another world has been opened and that he is now the host for an invading Druid demon who he transforms into after sunset. It becomes a battle of wills in the ‘Dr, Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’, ‘Werewolf’ tradition—but on a modern day level—as he struggles to suppress and control the murderous demon within. The story introduces a unique and new horror creature: BayLock! Sequel potential. Genre: Creature horror

Falling Star

An original disaster sci-fi thriller in which a cruise ship en route to the Bahamas is almost struck by a spacecraft that violently crashes into the sea. Mysteriously losing all of its power, the cruise ship finds itself floating dead in the water. There is an investigation of the nearby floating alien craft and then an accident. The cruise ship is damaged and sinking and worse, now there is something on board that is trying to kill the small group of surviving passengers and crew. Thrilling to the very end. Not just another “creature” movie but much more. Think, Aliens, meets The Poseidon Adventure. Genre: Sci-fi horror

Empty Eyes

The story takes place on a farm in Kansas in the future. It’s about the relationship that builds between a young girl and a robot who gains conscious awareness and the happiness, difficulties, and tragedy that results. In feel it is reminiscent of To Kill A Mockingbird and Charlotte’s Web. Genre: sci-fi drama

Trapped

A small group of individuals is invited out to an isolated privately owned island located off the coast of Florida. There they meet a doctor who is attempting to find a cure for Progeria, a rare genetic disorder that is rapidly aging his 11-year-old son. After showing his guests around the giant fortress that he lives in, the doctor introduces them to his work and to several monstrous things that have resulted from it.

There is a freak accident that causes a death and traps the island’s guests in a fortress from which they cannot escape. In order to survive, they must avoid a stalking madman who is bent on their destruction and find a way to get past the thing that is waiting outside for them. Genre: Horror sci-fi thriller

Missing Essence

This is an original mystery thriller of a psychological nature with a science-fiction twist. In the story, something is being covered up at a corporate laboratory. People are acting different. There are several unexplained suicides and someone believed dead is seen alive and walking about.

Throughout the story, the mystery continues to change and deepen as the tension builds until there is danger and excitement leading to a suspense filled conclusion in which the story’s final mystery is revealed—people are being replicated and replaced by their duplicates. One problem: Their duplicates don’t have souls and thus can’t adapt to their new lives. The story is somewhat reminiscent in feel to Coma, but unique unto itself. Genre: Sci-fi suspense (low-budget)

Rats, Rats, Rats

A health inspector in NYC learns, to his dismay, that as part of his promotion to health inspector, he must deal with the city’s intensified rat problem. The city doesn’t want to address the issue and he is content in doing the same until his family is threatened by the problem. He then must do what the city is unwilling to do.

With elements similar to Jaws it is an Arachnophobia type story that, where Jaws made you afraid to go into the water, Rats, Rats, Rats will make you afraid to use your toilet! Genre: Thriller

Finger Paintings

This is the story of a deformed, mentally handicapped man who had been hidden away since birth by his mother. When his mother dies, unexpectedly, he finds himself totally alone. This frightened, innocent man hides himself up in the attic when a young woman, a struggling artist, moves into the vacant home. The resulting story is one of discover, joy and heartbreak.

Artistically moving, this is a simple, emotional story that is well told. A Beauty and the Beast, King Kong mixture in feel.

Meow (co-authored)

This is a story about a woman who is raising her two children alone. Although recognizing her children’s need for a father and her need for romance, she is unable to find the right man; all of this changes one night when she transforms into a cat. As a cat, the audience can hear her thoughts as it bears witness to her struggle to find a way to turn back into a human. Along the way, she meets her Prince Charming and manages to get her children and her sister involved in her unusual adventure. It is a charming, fun-filled fantasy for the entire family. (This script is written for the cats in the film to be rendered utilizing CGI effects—computer-generated-imagery.) Genre: Fantasy family film

Origins

A university professor is hit by a car and awakens to discover that he has lost his memory. He soon finds that strange, corpse-like men are stalking him as he falls into an ever-deepening mystery. With the help of a colleague, who he falls in love with, he flees from the unknown only to end up confronting it head on.

A strange, mystery driven story with a feel somewhere between Close Encounters and The Borne Identity.

Rain Must Not Fall

No synopsis available—a Captain Quantum animation.

Sign (co-authored)

This is a funny, touching, family film. The story is centered on a man who is working for the Bronx Zoo. Although he has reached retirement age, he chooses not to do so as he fears he would find himself alone, faced with an unfulfilled life.

His rather simple life becomes complicated after there is an incident at the zoo involving a chimpanzee who accidentally causes the death of a teenager who was abusing the other animals. The zoo orders the chimp destroyed. The caring old man, because of his special relationship with the chimp, steals the primate and hides him out at his apartment. Their relationship grows as they communicate with sign language. Similar in feel to Ernest Borgnine’s classic Marty, but with comedy and entertainment for the entire family. Genre: Comedic drama, family film

Mirror Mirror in the Sky (later re-titled Mirror)

An original, high concept idea. First some factual background: In February of 1993, the Russian space agency successfully tested a prototype for an orbiting mirror. They plan to construct a much larger mirror in space that would light their dark northern cities by reflecting the rays of the sun. This would allow them to increase productivity in these specific cities whose mining operations are presently hampered by polar nights that last four months out of the year.

In this story, the Russians have completed assembling their full-scale mirror on space. It tests successfully but there is an accident and the mirror’s light is unintentionally focused down upon Los Angeles, CA—during the day. It is soon learned that by high noon the temperature will be 350 degrees. Los Angeles must be evacuated and it must be done within an hour!

A throwback to the great character driven disaster films, this story possesses the intimacy of the original The Poseidon Adventure on a scale as grand as Earthquake. Genre: Big-budget disaster

Teacher (later re-titled Alaskan Sojourn)

Fact: In Alaska, there are families that live way out in the middle of nowhere. The state, by law, is required to provide these families with a teacher who lives with them while teaching.

This story is about a burnt out, Black teacher from LA who seeks solace by taking such a teaching opportunity in Alaska. The problem? He soon discovers that the father of the family that he is dropped off with is a harsh, belligerent, unstable individual. Tension and pulse pounding events are the result.

The irony of the story is that this teacher runs away from his problems only to end up facing his issues as well as a life-threatening situation, coming full-circle in the process.

The tension and story simplicity are reminiscent, in feel, to a Dead Calm type, but set in the Alaskan wilderness rather than the open sea, the isolation factor visibly different yet the story is the same in the self-reliance it engenders in the story’s protagonist, who, being an urban, Afro-American, adds an additional fish out of water element. Certain scenes are purposely designed to be disturbing. Genre: Suspense

Wood Frog

Neo-Nazi skinheads are tainting hospital blood supplies for some unknown reason. Investigating CIA officers follow this developing mystery, eventually learning of a doomsday virus while becoming involved with a psychopath who is bent on putting the virus to use. The story is thrilling, suspenseful, and has a perfect balance of riveting action and intense psychological interplay between characters. Similar in certain aspects to a Silence of the Lambs, crossed with the X Files. The unique ending, revealing a living Adolph Hitler, will leave audiences surprised, forcing them to re-examine their beliefs and opinions. Genre: Psychological Suspense
